- News: On February 19, 2019, S&P Global Ratings has corrected by lowering its ratings on Hempstead Union Free School District, N.Y.`s series 2013 general obligation (GO) qualified school construction bonds (federally taxable direct-pay bonds) and 2014 school district bonds to `A-` from `A+`, in-line with its underlying rating on the district`s GO debt. The outlook is negative. S&P Global Ratings should have lowered the ratings on these bonds to `A-` when it lowered the underlying rating on the district`s GO debt two notches to `A-` on January 30, 2017. At the same time, S&P Global Ratings has corrected by withdrawing the underlying rating on the same bonds because they do not participate in the New York State Dormitory Authority state aid intercept with enhancements program.
