On January 17, 2018, Moodys Investors Service (Moodys) downgraded its financial strength ratings on National Public Finance Guaranty (NPFG), formerly known as MBIA Insurance Corp., from A3 to Baa2. The Bonds are insured by NPFG. The rating on the Bonds is the higher of the underlying rating and the insured rating. As a consequence, the rating of the Bonds remains the underlying rating, Aa3. - News: The Fontana Unified School District hereby provides notice of a significant event regarding a rating change to the Fontana Unified School District (San Bernardino County, California) 1997 General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series A (the Bonds). On December 5, 2017, Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) downgraded the insurance financial strength rating from AA+ to AA on National Public Finance Guarantee Corp. (NPFG), a sub sidiary of MBIA Inc., assigned a Negative Outlook and subsequently withdrew the rating for business reasons. The Bonds are insured by NPFG.
